Mental Health Program Assistant

(Program Administration Specialist I)
The Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services is seeking an accomplished individual to provide program assistance to Office of Mental Health staff in program planning and development (e.g., new service initiatives), project implementation and monitoring (e.g. database management and reporting), and services evaluation (e.g. onsite reviews); to provide technical assistance to CSBs in accessing and utilizing DBHDS online training resources (e.g. case management modules) and utilization management (e.g. secure site discharge planning) databases, as well as general program assistance and support to office staff.   

Knowledge of contemporary practices in behavioral health services and supports for persons with mental illness and substance use disorders. Working knowledge of project management activities and ability to work independently with complex tasks and relate well with multiple teams of professionals.  Considerable skill in and experience with MS Office products as well as ability to learn and master other software programs related to database management, document production and web-based educational presentations.  Demonstrated ability to perform a wide variety of program-specific assignments in collecting and analyzing information and making judgments about the quality of service programs, preparing reports and guidance documents, and communicating with staff and the general public. Knowledge of Virginia’s public behavioral health services system and Qualified Mental Health Professional (QMHP) status preferred.   Education, which included course work related to mental illness, substance use disorders, or intellectual disabilities, the problems associated with them, and their alleviation Bachelor’s degree preferred.

Hiring Range:  $35,000-$42,000
